It all started with a TURTLE…
Founded from a spark of creative engineering, MODcar™ began in 2016 from designing art cars for Burning Man—hand-built, imagination-driven vehicles that blend bold aesthetics with experimental electric powertrains.
One built-from-scratch, remote-controlled, electrified playa prototype stood out: SIMON the TURTLE.
That handcrafted turtle became our laboratory: every wiring run, motor mount, and battery pack taught us how to build efficient, elegant electric systems from the ground up.
Out of that hands-on research and relentless iteration we developed a built-from-scratch modular electric vehicle platform, then formalized our work into MODcar™.
Today we bring the same inventive spirit and technical rigor to modular EV kits: scalable chassis modules, plug-and-play powertrains, and configurable body systems that let builders, designers, and small manufacturers create purpose-built electric vehicles faster and with fewer barriers.
